Equations that changed the world

Equation of real-life

In this world of growing technical advancements, no one including me can prevent self from studying physics, mathematics and chemistry laws, equations, principles.”Why are we studying it mam?”, each one of us once thought of asking our mentors. But here is something which will shock us and disclose to us the fact that our lives, all the modern and medieval inventions are based on these equations. How they changed the era, the lifestyles drastically lie in the implementations whose roots survive in the ‘EQUATIONS’.

PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM

The theorem which was first heard of in-class ninth and is used till now by us in the way or other. Mathematicians used this very basic theorem in proving hundreds of postulates. Peeping into an architect’s rough plan or in a civil engineer’s layout sketch, we find the theorem applied. Thanks to the eponymous founder of Pythagoreanism!

THEORY OF RELATIVITY

Proposed by Einstein, this theory is the one that made us aware of the past, present, and future of the earth. And yes no matter you go anywhere in space, the speed of light remains constant provided it travels in a vacuum. This statement built the base of the GPS today.

LAW OF GRAVITATION

I thank God for coinciding the time when Newton relaxed under a tree and an apple fell on his head. This incident made history in physics by making us the fact clear that why do we stand and not fly or float even when the earth is round. And yes this law is the mother who gave birth to several other laws that helped to build the technologies we use today.

LOGARITHMS

Because of John Napier, many mathematicians were able to simplify their theory-proofs and calculations to a considerable extent. Just imagine if logarithm wouldn’t exist, how difficult would it be to calculate the algorithm complexities. Moreover, half of the theories today would have remained undiscovered.

CALCULUS

This word might scare many readers but this is the reason an architect can design a dome over a sports arena or improve infrastructures of bridges. The growth of coronavirus today is determined using calculus as well. Differential Calculus has made it possible for biologists to determine the exact rate of growth of the coronavirus in the laboratories. Statistics, Graphics, Research analysis, chemistry, all fields fairly apply calculus in their applications.

SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS

“Not knowing the Second Law of Thermodynamics is like never having read a work of Shakespeare”, well said by scientist C.P. Snow. Before the electric and diesel engines were used in trains, Steam engines were used whose working is explained by this law. Refrigerators and heat pumps are prominent in real-life examples.

It's not less than a boon to us that scientists and mathematicians put forth the theories and equations applying which our lives got so simplified.

Really, these equations changed the world.
