Reliance Jio announced on October 20 that it would join forces with US-based Qualcomm to create an open and open source 5 G architecture-based interface based on home-grown technologies.The tie-up places India in an elite community of nations with the ability to give users superfast speeds of 1 (Gbps).
During their trials, Jio and Qualcomm reported that they had achieved a speed of 1 Gbps on the Reliance Jio 5GNR solution using the Qualcomm ® 5 G RAN platform. This achievement not only supports Jio 's 5 G credential, but also means the entry of Jio and India into the Gigabit 5 G NR product range.

Jio users will be able to access the internet at a speed of up to 1Gbps once 5 G networks have been rolled out in India. Jio, India's largest network operator has over 40 crore subscribers and over 35.54 lakh subscribers in July, according to TRAI Telecom Regulator.
